Woke up to the sound of thunder this morning. It must have been around 0630 this morning. The beach was empty, except for a few four legged friends.
The storm clouds off the coast were creepy. Stu and I still decided to cruise to Uluwatu to take a look at the waves. Uluwatu is a very shallow reef. I can definitely stand up in the line up and the water would be at my waist during high tide.
Stu was the smart one today and opted not to paddle out after we did the surf check. I was dumb, and went for it.
I must have spent two or three hours paddling through horrible currents, avoiding closeouts, and trying to paddle back in to a safe spot before the tide changed and ended up smashing me against a jagged cliff. My arms have never been so sore.
When I finally did make it back to dry land, Stu greeted me with a “Holy Shit! You made it! You’re alive!” That’s when I realized my decision to surf today was a very bad idea. He honestly thought I was going to die and was trying to figure out how to call a rescue squad.
Uluwatu is no joke….
The evening was much more fun since we decided to rehydrate with a few pictures of margaritas and go salsa dancing with Rien at one of her favorite resturants.
Rien and all here salsa dancing girlfriends were there teaching class and having a great time. It was a very fun restaurant, and had some awesome art work!
Love!
