Today Stu and I went up the coastline to grab breakfast and explore the surf in Canggu. This little stretch of coastline is rocky and a reef bottom and makes for some very fun waves. So it’s critical to load up on a nutritious breakfast of fresh juice and strawberry pancakes!
After the water, we explored the Batu Bolon Temple that is right on the beach. Canggu is a chill little town indeed, and a nice break from Seminyak or Kuta beaches. We debated if we should stay in Canggu, but we have a sweet villa in Seminyak that is practically right on the beach. So we didn’t debate long once we confirmed Canggu villas would involve walking more than one minute to the beach.
Lots of graffiti throughout Canggu, but it seems tasteful and promoting good vibes. I like graffiti, its a unique medium, everyone can see it, it’s interactive amongst other artists, and who knows how long it will be on display.
After spending the morning in Canggu we headed back to the villa in Seminyak. Stu desperately needed to buy a hat to protect him from the wrath of the Sun God. Have mentioned that Indonesia is HOT and the sun is intense!? Don’t mess around kid…use protection! Nothing worse than being sidelined on a surf trip because you got a bad sunburn.
This little beach shack next to the villa is “magical”. There’s a backstory regarding “magical”, for another time. They serve up pretty good grilled octopus, fruit smoothies, and cocktails. Not a bad lunch!
Hit the waves right out back for an evening session, and then discovered a fun little bar where we bought a bottle of Rum to keep us company.
Damn cool!!!!
